I love bowling. I bowled on a league and even bought my own horribly ugly bowling shoes a few years ago. My game never improved, but that didn’t matter because it was about having fun. Recently, my friend gathered a bunch of us together for her birthday at Ten Pin Alley to try our luck at strikes and spares, and we all had a blast. Ten Pin Alley happens to be the coolest alley I have ever seen and extremely kid-friendly. It is located off of Main Street in Hilliard.
Ten Pin Alley is decked out in a 50’s retro-style with lots of chrome and red vinyl, an awesome menu (you can order hummus, sweet potato fries, and nachos with real cheese not the fake pumped cheese you find in most bowling alleys), table-side service, and brightly colored bowling balls. The place entices you to have a good time the moment you walk in the door. Ten Pin Alley totally caters to kids, too. They have bumpers for the alleys, portable slide-type thing kids can use to roll balls down so aren’t rolling them between their legs, arcade games, and even bowling leagues for young kids.
Our group of kids had a great time learning the sport and even enjoyed taking turns and watching the others bowl. The kids were all elementary aged and younger, and did an awesome job following the structure of the game. One game was about all their little attention spans could handle, though. Luckily, we had ordered some food and let them play between the couches while we finished our second game –Â and attempted to help them finish their second game. It was a really fun afternoon.
Oh! Ten Pin Alley also does birthday parties! Great for those kiddies with birthdays during the colder months. More information on parties can be found here.

Take the kids to knock some pins down:
- Call ahead to make sure they have open lanes.
- The food is good if you decide to have lunch, and they have lidded cups for the kiddies.
- Room for strollers.
- Very comfortable atmosphere with kids.
- Follow the rules and etiquette of the game. Good lessons here for kids about patience and taking turns.
- If you are going with younger kids, see how one game goes before you decide on a second. Our kiddies lost focus near the end of the first game, and the second was a waste of money.
We love Ten Pin Alley, too! Our 4 yr. old discovered the fun during a recent birthday party. Then we took the family and with the help of the ramp, our 23 month old could bowl like a big girl, too!
Had a blast!
Hey there C-Bus Mom! I just moved to hilliard from Sidney Ohio and was wondering whether there were leagues for adults as well.
Love your page and it’s great that they cater to kids. when my kids get a little older I think that this would be a great recreation!
Welcome to Columbus, Jon! I think they do – give them a call because I don’t know what the schedule is. The number is right up in the post. Have fun!
