We spent the morning at the Scioto Audubon Metro Park, and had so much fun that we can’t wait to go back. The park had a playground, trails for hiking, a wooden walkway over the pond where we spied ducks, turtles, and cat tails, and then we climbed the water tower. Seriously, we could have spent the whole day there milling around playing and enjoying nature. And, if we got too hot we could have always made our way up to the Audubon Center and cooled off a bit while learning about birds native to Ohio. I wrote a post about the center here: Grange Insurance Audubon Center in Columbus, OH.
The park is located just behind the Grange Insurance Audubon Center, and has play equipment that is out of the ordinary – rope jungle gyms, an avant-garde slide (better for older children, but my 3 year old loved going down on his belly), and lots of room to explore. There are a few port-o-lets and up at the center are actual bathrooms, whichever suits you best. The play area is in full sun and so are many of the walking paths near the play center, so slather on the sunscreen. The picnic tables are shaded and so is the water tower.
Thought I’d share some pictures to help tell the story of our morning trip….
