Thanks to all of you who tuned into my appearance on Fox 28′s Good Day Columbus! Here are the family fun activities I talked about for August:
FREE! fun kids concerts:
Bring a blanket or lawn chair. Shows are generally about an hour or so, and I like to get there early so I can get a good area to pop a squat. Bring water because the kids get hot with all that dancing.
Mrs. Sparkles will play at Hilliard’s Historical Society Gazebo on August 12 at 7pm.
Powell Lolli Pops Concert featuring Endless Recess Village Green Amphitheater in downtown Powell on August 13 at 10:30 a.m. (Powell’s splash pad is right next to the amphitheater. Take lunch and then let the kids play in the water!). You’ll be sitting in full sun, so plan accordingly.
More low cost August fun…
Farm Days at COSI August 15 – 19, free with admission.
Huge farm equipment will be parked in front of COSI. Kids can climb on the equipment and learn about what each machine is used for, as well as learn how to milk a cow (not a real cow, more of a simulation) and maybe see a chick hatch!
Balloons and Tunes Hot Air Balloon and Music Festival
Enjoy more than 30 hot-air balloons, music, artists and a kids’ activity area with inflatables and kites. You can even reserve space to ride in a hot air balloon! August 21-23 at Beulah Park, 3811 Southwest Blvd, Grove City.
Friday evening starting at 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. with 6:45 a.m. balloon ascenions; Cost: $5; $5 parking; kids under 5 free
AMF Bowling Summer Unplugged: kids 15 and under bowl free, you just pay shoe rental, which is around $10 for two kids. They get two games to bowl. Only lasts until September, so get a move on!
