The MAiZE at Little Darby Creek

The MAiZE at Little Darby Creek

I have another fantastic farm for you all to visit! The kids and I went to The MAiZE at Little Darby Creek with family and friends, and left with smiles and tired legs. The MAiZE is only about a 35 – 45 minute drive west from Columbus just passed Plain City. It was clean, full of fun activities, and one serious corn maze. This year the design celebrates 100 Years of Girl Scouts, and was impressive. I had never done a corn maze before and was curious how long we’d be in there…well…we cheated. In our defense, if we didn’t cheat we’d still be there.

Once we were out of the corn maze – which for us took about 40 minutes – we hit the “playground.” For the $10 combo pass we got to do the corn maze, play on the slides, the bike buggies, ride the cow tram, jump on the trampoline, blast corn cobs across the field, see the animals, play laser tag, and take a hayride where we each got a pumpkin to take home. Phew…say that five times fast. For more information about admission go here: Admission and Hours. They also sell food such as hot dogs, chips, homemade fudge and pies, and kettle corn, and have plenty of picnic tables to eat lunch. I’d suggest bringing your own lunch. Parking is close to the farm, so it would be easy to leave lunch in your car and get it when you are ready to eat.

This farm is great for kids of all ages, but especially preschoolers on up because they are big enough to run around and play on the various attractions. My kids loved the big slides and enormous trampoline, but they said the cow tram ride was their favorite. A guy takes kids on a speedy ride through the farm in little cars painted to look like cows, similar to the Banana Boat ride at Leeds. The kids loved how fast this guy took them on his 4-wheeler – all I heard was laughing.

Anyhow, this farm is totally on my recommendation list for a fun family fall day! The MAiZE is open Friday – Sunday mid-September through October.

Get lost in the corn:

  • If you are planning to go with a big group, call ahead and ask if there are discounts.
  • Combo pass gets you the hayride and a pumpkin you pick out of the pumpkin patch. You can also buy pre-picked pumpkins on the grounds before you leave if you don’t want the hayride.
  • Bring your lunch and water. My kids were starving when we left.
  • Expect to be in the corn maze for a while, so plan accordingly and have fun.
  • Bring quarters for goat feed.
  • Port-o-potties available – very clean.
  • Stroller-friendly – even the maze – just remember you are on grass and bumpy ground.
