Crafty Gift Idea: Thanks to City Folks Farm Shop

Crafty Gift Idea: Thanks to City Folks Farm Shop

City Folks Farm Shop is a little shop in the Beechwold/Clintonville area full of supplies for those interested in things such as beekeeping, canning, bird watching, or chicken keeping. The shop focuses on natural, eco-friendly products. They also offer intro classes that focus on urban homesteading, in addition to workshops where patrons can make herbal beads from real plants or gifts in jars. I took my girl to the gifts in jars event with Rachel Tayse of Hounds in the Kitchen, and came home with lovely presents for her teacher.

City Folks is located just south of Morse Road on High Street and has parking in the back of the store or on the side streets. The shop had a friendly, family feel and had an awesome suet bird feeder for sale that must me mine. They were roasting chestnuts for their patrons  – wow! yum! – BUT we didn’t go to eat them out of chestnuts (even though we wanted to), rather for my daughter and niece to make handmade gifts. Rachel Tayse was set up at the back of the store leading the event. She had beautiful Weck jars ready to be filled with choices of flavored hot cocoa, bath foam, or flavored finishing salt. My girl chose to make all three (well, I made the salt for my hubby), and I can cross a few people off my holiday gift list.

Now, we got to create jars at the event, but making a lovely handmade gift in a jar can be done with your children at home too. Check out this post on Hounds in the Kitchen that includes ideas on what you can put in the jars: Handmade Holiday: Adorning Gifts in Jars. So you know, those lovely tags featured in her post from Igloo Letterpress can be purchased at City Folks, along with recipe cards and jars.
