Well, it seems as if the weather is never going to warm up in “sunny” Central Ohio. My mood and physical well-being could use more than a half day of sun! Given that, indoor activities still need to take place and plans for teaching my girl to ride her bike without training wheels can wait…I guess. Going to the movies is always fun when it is gross or cold out, and can be an activity for the entire family any time of year. And, there are places where families can be served dinner and sometimes a pancake breakfast while they watch a flick. Have you heard of Movie Tavern in Hilliard or AMC’s Fork & Screen Theater? I haven’t had the chance to check out Movie Tavern, but I was invited to a blogger event at AMC’s Fork & Screen Theater and had a really good time.

AMC’s Fork & Screen Theater is located at the main building at Easton. We parked in the garage attached to the building and didn’t have too far to walk to get to the theater. I think the only way to enter the theater was from the bottom level, and then take the escalator or an elevator up to the main floor where the tickets are sold. Be sure to check times for the Fork & Screen movies because AMC also shows movies without the dinner option. We opted to see “The Muppets” and were led to our theater that was gorgeous! Beautiful and comfortable leather chairs, low lighting to help patrons see their food, and a decent menu with lots of food options. It was also very clean!

My first thought was the food was going to be generic and bad…like that bag of recycled popcorn I’ve gotten so many times (it tastes like packing peanuts, yes I’ve been dared to eat one and they taste like garbage). But, the food was good! There was a good amount of varied food options such as shrimp tacos and hummus and veggies, dessert options included a bacon maple ice cream thing and other yummy sweets. They also offer a children’s menu with typical stuff: grilled cheese, chicken fingers, etc. I could also have ordered an adult beverage and Ju Ju Bees to be delivered to me while I relaxed and checked out for a while.

Trays swiveled out from the seats and could be put back once the food was taken away. Service was good and the experience was easy and enjoyable. The only downside was the price (with much appreciation, I was invited as a blogger to an event they were having and the only out of pocket expense for me was tipping the server). For a family of four, it could easily be over a $100 night for dinner and a movie. Now, for some of you that is peanuts, but for my family it is on the pricey side. We’d have to save it for a special event like a birthday or maybe a date night for adults only.

AMC’s Fork & Screen Theater is overall a fun activity. I love going to the movies, even though I rarely ever get to go, and I love food…so for me it was a win-win. Check it out sometime:
