Visitor’s Pass, a poem

“Visitor’s Pass”

Today I got a visitor’s pass to peer into the activities of young ones

to see my child learn and play

for a glimpse into my darling boy’s circle time.

Today I got a visitor’s pass to experience what my preschooler does each day

from snack time and line up

to putting coats on and cleaning up.

Today I got a visitor’s pass to watch my child learn to recognize letters

write his name and count

to measure with weights and scales.

Today I got a visitor’s pass to watch him fidget in his chair

raise his hand to answer a question about doctors

put on a helmet and pretend to be a knight.

Today I got a visitor’s pass to see my child grow

to be educated to live his life to the fullest

to recognize when to take risks and when to play it safe.

Today I got a visitor’s pass to watch my child learn things that will give him wings

learn reading and writing foundations so he can soar one day

because of his education, to live life to the fullest.
