Sweet and Sassy at Polaris Fashion Place

Have you ever taken your child to Sweet and Sassy? They represent the pink limo you may have seen driving around town or in the parking lot of the Polaris Mall? Well, I visited for the first time when my girl wanted her ears pierced. My pediatrician does piercing and I know Piercology does it the old-fashioned way with a needle (which can help later when you want to wear danglies), but I thought it would be fun to do it someplace little girly and frilly…and Sweet and Sassy was definitely the place.

We did a double-duo piercing, meaning we went with a friend. It was nice because when the time came to have a sharp metal object shot in their ears, they supported each other and cheered each other on. Sweet and Sassy was definitely a place for little girls, especially girls who love pink, lip gloss, and those beanies with the big eyes.  Sweet and Sassy is a full service spa for little girls: hair, nails, make-up…yeah. I’ll probably be back…

Of course I called ahead. I had to check out their gear and make sure everything was safe and clean. The manager assured me that the guns were cleaned and sanitized carefully with hospital grade cleaners, they used hospital grade alcohol to clean ears before piercing, and all earrings were nickle-free and hypo-allergenic.

First, we picked out our earrings. My girl picked out her birthstone. Then the friends decided who was going to go first and hopped in the chair. The customer service reps came out each holding the gun behind their backs and kept them out of the child’s eye view the entire time. They pierced both ears at the same time, which is what I wanted for my daughter. Saved her from that “shock” happening twice. Both girls said it only hurt a little bit and were given a sucker for their bravery. I would recommend Sweet and Sassy if your little one is asking for ears pierced; but, go when it is not busy. We went on a Sunday early afternoon and were fine.

I am going to switch gears now. Sweet and Sassy does birthday parties. Now, you may be thinking how cute! The girls get their make-up done, hair done and get to put on a pretty dress and walk down their runway. From what I hear, not exactly. I spoke with another mom about her two experiences going to a birthday party there, and I guess it is kind of like an assembly line and it gets really crowded and crazy.
