Are you familiar with Pelotonia? If not, it is a bike race/ride with its sole purpose being to raise money for cancer research. 100% of the proceeds go to The James Cancer Hospital to work to put an end to the dreadful disease.
My husband is riding 50 miles in honor of his mother and others in our family who have been effected by cancer. The beauty is, if you know my husband, you know he never works out. So, when he told me he was riding 50 miles for Pelotonia I snorted. Quickly though, I realized how proud I was of him and of why he decided to bike – for a cause, for something extremely important to him and many of us…to aid cancer research.
Some of us have won the battle, some fighting the battle, and some have bravely lost the battle. Sheilah, my husband’s mother, saw my daughter for the last time when my girl was 10 months old. My daughter is now 10 years old, and would have loved laughing and making memories with her Nana. Sheilah was only 55 when she died. It was terrible.
We also currently have a dear friend fighting a battle with colon cancer. She is only 42 years old. She is a single mother and a teacher. Cancer has no bounds; it attacks anyone at anytime.
Please consider donating to a rider – my husband or someone you know who is putting in the miles to help aid those who are sick now or who may be sick in the future.
